Everything is possible?

Everything is possible? It is all in your head? No. Sorry to burst your bubble.

We are not only our minds, we are made up of so many more factors than just our brains. Yes, it is really significant for our development to realize how much of our wellbeing is defined by what goes on in our brain, but to say that it’s all in your mind as popular culture will have it and that we can do anything as long as you set your mind to it? No, it's not that simple.

I will start by saying that most people have a hard time setting their minds to anything because they are just plain lazy. We (in the western world) live in the most comfortable time ever. No famine, no wild beasts, childbirth no longer life-threatening, no diseases wiping out entire communities and no crazy violent crusaders kill-cruising through our villages.

This means for the regular guy that after 100 incarnations in limbo about if he is going to make it till 40, now basically wants to chill.

Most of us are so much stuck in our minds that we totally forget the fact that we are Biology. Or more precisely; Biochemistry. What a waste to have been taught this so dryly. How fascinating it should be to really understand (and not only conceptually) all of the magic that goes on behind our DNA, our metabolism, the way oxygen influences the cells in our bodies, the way hormones respond, the reasons why we respond to stimuli in certain ways and so on and so on. But the general feeling I got from my teacher was how stupid she thought we all were… (or was it the other way around?)

In addition, we are the end result of our food and beverage intake, which is of course also biochemistry. We will definitely perform better if our intake of garbage is zero. If energy-wise our in and output is synchronised to perfection and if whatever we eat, has grown and been picked (or killed) in the most loving, nurturing environment. If we see those horrid fragments of slaughterhouses and chicken farms, an additional thought has to go through our minds that we must be eating huge amounts of dead Cortisol (more biochemistry) in the animals that we eat. Whether we drink spring water or sugared sodas all day definitely makes a difference. We are all made up of our food.

And how about our Environment? A kid raised in a war zone or in a violent family will have different opportunities, habits, perceptions and aspirations than a kid raised in a loving wealthy family. My guess is that a kid raised in the aftermath of Hiroshima or Chernobyl will develop differently than one raised in rural Scotland or on a beach in Zanzibar. Or a girl raised in an atheist Western family or a Taliban one will also leave its impact.

And we are our feed. A feed on the World Wide Web = a data format used for providing users with frequently updated content. I don’t think that everyone playing GTA will turn into a serial road killer, but it will be ignorant to think that our daily intake of the media and the world around us has no effect on us.

I love having a studio full of yogis and doing a simple posture to just look at the differences in everyones anatomy. Dandasana for example; sitting on the ground legs straight, hands next to your hips on the ground. Most people have their hands on the ground but there are also some whose arms bend at the elbow and yet some might need a cube to reach the ground.

Yes, I am sure that Jennifer Lopez works her ass off, but the woman has also been dealt a good hand of DNA nor did Stevie Wonder's vision compromise his hearing.

Having only talent doesn’t get you very far and most of the time in order to succeed you need to work hard. My point is we are our Anatomy, everyone comes and develops a different set of tools.

And just maybe we are also pawns made out of energy, under the influence of the stars the moons and the heavens, who pull and push us like the currents in the oceans, played with by Gods and Goddesses with their wands, their joysticks, and their remote controls.
